So, you may ask, what exactly is N442TE? We don't know yet! We do know that at some point in the next few years we'll be building an airplane...whether or not that comes before buying a certificated airplane I don't know yet. But, we went ahead and reserved a very special N-number for it.
With the impending closure of Ball Airport, Aaron's home base as a pilot and airport where he first soloed and has since flown the family's beloved Piper Cub, we thought it was an appropriate number to reserve.
N stands for "November," which proceeds the registration number of all US-registered aircraft. "4" stands for the word "for." And "42TE" is the identification for Ball Airport, which will close down in August 2007 after 70 years of continuous operation.
Whatever we build, it will carry a reminder on the fuselage of a piece of history, and a piece of Aaron. This story is definitely to be continued...
