Biohacking means taking control of the shape your body is in through exercise, nutrition, and habit change. For us, this all started when we began learning about the emerging science of nutrigenomics. This field uses nutrition to influence the proper expression of genes, and has a growing body of hard-core science to back it up. It is the epitome of preventative health care!
Rather than circle a burning building with fire trucks and hoping to put out the flames with minimal smoke and water damage, nutrigenomics prevents the fire by tweaking the fire suppression system that the building came with and making it more effective. This is the key to our biohacking approach, and the cause and enabler of many of our improvements.
Our results? Overall, we are healthier at age 39 than age 29. We jog an average of 15 miles per week and have recently run our third half-marathon; the running is as much a result as it is a cause for us. As a teen and twenty-something, Aaron’s attempts at running were stymied by inflammation-which he no longer suffers. And, we’re down about 80 pounds between the two of us!
Biohacking and nutrigenomics have redirected us from the sedentary, unhealthy road we were heading down, and have enabled us to make physical fitness an enjoyable, daily habit. Fit people have more fun!
